8. Build Quality at the Source (Jidoka)

In Lean, quality is not a department; it is a responsibility.

  • The Mechanics: Use Poka-Yoke (error-proofing devices) like sensors or physical guides that make it impossible to assemble a part incorrectly.

  • The Deep Dive: Implement the Andon system. If a defect is found, the operator pulls a cord to stop the line. The goal is to "Fix the process, not just the part."
