These are the few big outcomes that will move the organization forward over multiple years.
Good breakthrough objectives are:
- strategic
- measurable
- few in number
- important enough to justify cross-functional focus
Example breakthrough objectives:
- Cut manufacturing lead time by 40% over 3 years
- Increase OEE from 68% to 82% over 3 years
- Reduce customer complaints by 60% over 3 years
- Build leadership capability in daily management across all plants
Bad versions are vague:
- Improve operations
- Be best in class
- Enhance performance
